![]() Born April 11, 1981 in Swansea, Wales, UK Birth Name Matthew Darren Evans Height 5' 11" (1,8 m) Education: Bristol Old Vic Theatre School (2003), Gorseinon College Parents: Maria Evans, Steve Evans Welsh actor Matt Ryan, born April 11, 1981. Matt was born in Swansea, Wales to parents Steve Evans, postman turned record producer, and Maria Evans, dance teacher. He attended Penyrheol Primary and Comprehensive schools in Gorseinon before moving on to the nearby Gorseinon College where he completed a BTEC Performing Arts course. As a child, he appeared in the West End production of Les Misã†rables, in the role of Gavroche. He graduated from the Bristol Old Vic in 2003 and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2004. Career He had a lead role as Mick Rawson on CBS’ “Criminal Minds” spinoff series, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, and was introduced in Criminal Minds Season 5, Episode “The Fight”. He performed the voice and motion capture of Edward Kenway in Ubisoft Montreal’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. In February 2014, it was announced that Ryan was cast as John Constantine in NBC’s pilot for Constantine. He starred in all 13 episodes of the series’ only season. He reprised his role in a crossover episode of The CW’s Arrow, as well as the 2017 animated film Justice League Dark. On 8 January 2017, The CW announced an animated series of Constantine: City of Demons on the CW Seed app with Ryan confirmed to reprise the character. He later reprised the role in several episodes of the third season of Legends of Tomorrow. Ryan was promoted to series regular for the fourth season of Legends of Tomorrow. In the 2015 production of Helen Edmundson’s adaptation of Thérèse Raquin at the Roundabout Theater at Studio 54 he played Laurent opposite Keira Knightley, Judith Light, and Gabriel Ebert. In August 2017, he appeared on stage at the Donmar Warehouse in the play Knives in Hens by David Harrower and directed by Yaël Farber. Personal About Him I love Michael Keaton. I think he's awesome - he's such an awesome actor - like the 'Beetlejuice' films. I just love that Tim Burton stuff. I have a statue of Superman. It's actually a big one... It's a collectible statue of Superman, which the DC guys very kindly gave to me. So that's a little prized possession of mine. Batman and Superman are probably my favorite superheroes - apart from Constantine. 'The Descent,' 'Dog Soldiers,' those films, I've loved for years, and the tones of those. I always loved Batman, the Michael Keaton 'Batman.' I loved those films, and Superman, but I was never a real comic book geek. I am musical. I play guitar.
